For more information or to learn more about attending the next class please contact Lt. Bill Hough at (256) 825-1034 or (256) 825-4264. These courses are scheduled throughout the year. However, classes can be sponsored for private and civic groups. Other programs are available upon request.
Yellow Dot Program: Designed to assist citizens following automobile accidents when they might not be able to communicate for theirselves. All paperwork can be completed at the Tallapoosa County Sheriff's Office or the Alexander City Police Department.
RAD (Resisting Aggression thru Defense): A program specifically designed for children ages 5-7 and 8-10. This program is an awareness and self defense program designed to educate you child of the dangers of strangers and ideas that they can use for the prevention of abduction.
R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense Training): An awareness and self defense program designed specifically for women.
Neighborhood Watch Programs: Designed to ensure neighbors are aware of steps they may take in order to protect their selves and community. Gives them tips and suggestions on making their area safer for their selves and their families.
D.A.R.E. (Drug Awareness Resistance Education): Specifically designed to make your 6th grade student aware of the dangers of Drug use. It not only informs and educates it ensures that your child is aware of the consequences of Drugs, Alcohol and violence and offers them substitutes and alternatives. This program also provides the child with ways to deal with peer pressure and alternate ways to say NO.
School Resource Officer: This program places a Deputy Sheriff in the school system so that he can be available to assist students when necessary as well as providing a positive role model for them.
Protecting your Child On-Line: This program is a seminar taught to parents and adults on the dangers of the internet and how to protect your child when using a computer. It gives alternate sites, lists the dangers of chat rooms, informs parents of patterns and much more.
Handgun Familiarization course: Designed specifically for all individuals who own or plan to purchase a firearm. From safety, cleaning, legal considerations to the actual use of the weapon. This training includes personal instruction individual instruction on the range to ensure a safe and enjoyable learning enviroment.
Crime Stoppers: A program designed for citizens to be able to report a crime and remain anonymous as well as receiving a cash reward when the tip leads to the arrest and/or conviction.
