Special Called Meeting

June 26, 2007

The Tallapoosa County Commission held a special called meeting June 26, 2007 at the Courthouse in Dadeville, AL at 9:00 a.m. Tallapoosa Publishers was present.

Chairman Allen called the meeting to order.

Commissioner Shaw gave the invocation.

Chairman Allen led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Chairman Allen called the roll. All Commissioners were present.

Consent Agenda:

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to approve the proposed fiscal action plan. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. Commissioner Tapley stated that he would like to see the plan passed with the exception of raising taxes to include the tag fee. Commissioner Shaw made a motion to approve the fiscal action plan with the exception of raising taxes to include the tag fee plus an exception to the hiring freeze for public safety. Commissioner Coley seconded this motion. By consent of the Commission the motion was amended and approved unanimously.

Commissioner Coley made a motion to enter into Executive Session to discuss economic development. Commissioner Shaw seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Coley made a motion to return to regular session. Commissioner Shaw seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Discussion Items by Commissioners:

Commissioner Coley stated that he would like to thank Don McClellan for all of his work on Economic Development. Commissioner Coley stated that the Commission staff has done a very good job adjusting to the change in leadership and he commends the administrator and the staff for their efforts. Commissioner Coley also stated that he will support Chairman Allen in any capacity to do everything to help the citizens of Tallapoosa County.

 

Announcements:

Chairman Allen announced that the Courthouse will be closed on July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

Commissioner Coley made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
