Regular Meeting

October 9, 2007

The Tallapoosa County Commission held its regularly scheduled meeting on October 9, 2007 at the Courthouse in Dadeville, Alabama at 9:00 a.m. Tallapoosa Publishers was present.

Chairman Allen called the meeting to order.

Commissioner Tapley gave the invocation.

Chairman Allen called roll. All Commissioners were present.

Roy Granger appeared before the Commission to discuss concerns as a citizen, land owner and taxpayer.

Elizabeth Lewis of Engineering Service Associates, Inc. appeared before the Commission to present the company she works for, their qualifications and services.

Chairman Allen recognized Kalie Abbett, a student from Benjamin Russell High School.

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to approve the minutes from the September 9, 2007 Regular Meeting and the September 28, 2007 Special Called Meeting. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve the purchase orders from the Highway Department and the warrants for all funds. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve leave transfers. Commissioner Shaw seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to approve for the Sheriff to seek application for a grant for equipment through ADECA. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve a resolution for Jim Lanier, Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail Association Treasurer, to seek application for a grant for the Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Thomas L. Coley, Jr. resigned his position as County Liaison to the Lake Martin Area Economic Alliance Board. Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to appoint Johnny Allen as County Liaison to the Lake Martin Area Economic Alliance Board. Commissioner Shaw seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve a resolution to utilize 2007 HRRRR funds to place traffic stripe, pavement marker, and pavement markings on various county roads in Tallapoosa County. Commissioner Shaw seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to surplus a 1996 Chevrolet One Ton Truck, a John Deere 5410 tractor and a 1993 Chevrolet 3500 Flat Bed Truck for the Highway Department. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

County Administrator Blake Beck gave meeting dates for the 2007-2008 Fiscal Year.

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
