Regular Meeting

January 12, 2009

 

 

The Tallapoosa County Commission held its regularly scheduled meeting on January 12, 2009 at the Courthouse in Dadeville, Alabama at 9:00 a.m.

 

Chairman Shaw called the meeting to order.

 

Commissioner Tapley gave the invocation.

 

Chairman Shaw led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Chairman Shaw called roll.  All Commissioners were present.

 

Public Comment from Citizens

Debbie Nigh appeared before the County Commission.  Ms. Nigh requested a letter of endorsement from the Commission for the Horseshoe Bend Garden Club.  The letter is to be included with a grant application for funds to build a recycle center in Dadeville, Alabama.

 

Yvonne Rainey addressed the Commission regarding trash and fire ant beds along the right of ways of Knox Road and Youngs Ferry Road.

Consent Agenda

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve the minutes of the December 8, 2008 meeting.  Commissioner Coley seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Allen made a motion to approve warrants and purchase orders.  Commissioner Coley seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to surplus Mack dump trucks and truck tractors.  Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to post a 15 mph speed limit on Point Cloxson Circle.  Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve for Stillwaters to post 35 mph speed limits on thru roads and 20 mph speed limits on dead end roads inside Stillwaters.  Commissioner Allen seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Allen made a motion to approve a 020-Restaurant Retail Liquor License for Springhouse Restaurant LLC.  Commissioner Coley seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Allen made a motion to approve a 020-Restaurant Retail Liquor License for L L Oysters and Grill.  Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Allen made a motion to appoint Fred Newman to another term as a Board Member for the Wall Street Water Authority.  Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve a sick leave

transfer.  Commissioner Coley seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve for the Sheriff’s Department to send out bids for three patrol cars.  Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve a participation agreement with the Association of County Commissions of Alabama Liability Self-Insurance Fund.  Commissioner Coley seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to adjourn.  Commissioner Allen seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.
