Minutes – Regular Meeting

 

October 18, 2010

 

The Tallapoosa County Commission held its regularly scheduled meeting October 18, 2010 at the courthouse in Dadeville, Alabama at 9:00 a.m.

 

Chairperson Thweatt called the meeting to order.

 

David Moore gave the invocation.

 

Vice Chairperson Coley led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Chairperson Thweatt called roll. Commissioners Coley, Shaw, Tapley and Thweatt were present.

 

Public Comments from Citizens

 

Samuel Ellis addressed the Commission requesting that the County do some work on the road going towards Springhill Church and consider paving some roads in the Camp Hill area.

 

Kevin Keel addressed the Commission requesting the status of the HVAC project bid for the courthouse. He was advised that the item was on the agenda and would be voted on today.

Consent Agenda

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve the minutes of the September 13, 2010 meeting. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve the warrants and purchase orders. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve a resolution vacating the condominium plat for the Villas at Point Windy effective October 7, 2010. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve posting of 30 mph speed limit on Old Dark Road. Commissioner Shaw seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to table a request from Don Burdette for Wind Creek State Park. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve an alcohol license application (retail beer off premises only) for This That and the Other. Commissioner Shaw seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to approve a resolution urging public support of constitutional amendment one. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Old Business

 

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to reject all bids and rebid the HVAC project for the Dadeville Courthouse. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. Commissioners Shaw, Coley, and Tapley voted yes. Commissioner Thweatt voted no. The motion passed by majority vote.

 

New Business

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to change the November meeting date to November 10, 2010. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Discussion Items

 

All of the Commissioners urged citizens to vote and to support constitutional amendment 3.

 

 

Announcements

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
