Minutes – Regular Meeting

 

February 11, 2013

 

The Tallapoosa County Commission held its regularly scheduled meeting February 11, 2013 at the courthouse in Dadeville, Alabama at 9:00 a.m.

 

Chairman Tapley called the meeting to order.

 

David Moore gave the invocation.

 

Chairman Tapley led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Chairman Tapley called roll. Commissioners Coley, Robinson, Tapley, Thweatt and Holt were present.

 

Public Comments from Citizens

 

Ron Howard with Coast2Coast addressed the Commission regarding a discount drug card program. Chairman Tapley advised him that the Commission would take his presentation under consideration.

 

Public Comments from Officials

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to amend the agenda to add the appointment of a board member to the Walnut Hill Water Authority. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Consent Agenda

 

Commissioner Holt made a motion to approve the minutes of the January 14, 2013 meeting. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Holt made a motion to approve the warrants and purchase orders. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve for the Sheriff’s department to purchase a used vehicle not to exceed $15,000 to be paid using funds from an insurance settlement for a wrecked car. Commissioner Holt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve for the Sheriff’s department to purchase 3 vehicles as approved in the FY13 budget. Commissioner Holt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Holt made a motion to approve William Rogers Welch and Wilbur Terrell to the board of directors of the Wall Street Water Authority. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve levy of County alcohol licensing fees. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve levy of County property taxes. Commissioner Holt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Holt made a motion to approve an emergency operations plan. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Holt made a motion to appoint Rick Hunter to the board of directors of the Hackneyville Water Authority. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve Roger Pritchard to the board of directors of the Jackson’s Gap Water Authority. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Holt made a motion to appoint Ernie Barnes to the board of directors of the Walnut Hill Water Authority. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to table a petition regarding the old golf course, Legends, at Still Waters. Commissioner Holt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
